Our process has evolved over time as we’ve been breeding. We find it to be a balancing act between loving our babies, and wanting to have plenty to share with the world, and keeping our family time a priority as well, while Tim and I both work full time. You see, these babies are amazing – and they can bring you so much joy! But there’s another side that’s not often talked about, and we still won’t go into it here, but it’s hard. Emotionally and physically, it’s a lot of work. We’re very fortunate as it’s a whole family affair, and our children do a lot of the daily maintenance work, but the downside is, when not managed properly, there’s no time to take family vacations or go visit family who live in another state. And if health issues come up, that’s just one more thing. All of that to say, we love what we do. The joy we get in sharing our babies with you, and getting updated pictures of our babies with you makes it all so very worthwhile! We just wanted to give a bit of a glimpse of the things running through our head as we let you know our process!
Please note, you will not find pricing information on this page. Once you’re ready to inquire on that level, we encourage you to email us and we can send you more information about us and about our pricing. Please know we always base our pricing first and foremost on personality as we find that’s the most important trait for any pet.
How often do we breed?
We typically try to breed our girls at most twice a year. If we feel a girl isn’t bouncing back as quickly, we will limit her to once a year, or if pregnancy was too hard on her, we will spay her and make her available as a pet.
As mentioned above, it’s important for us to carve out family time – whether it’s to visit family, or take a trip together. The only way to do that is to ensure we be intentional about the times we breed (or rather, don’t breed). As such, we will breed our mamas in late November/December depending on timing and heat cycles, and if they don’t take, we will typically continue trying to breed them through February. This is so all babies from those litter(s) will be going home by mid-July and we can have at least 6 weeks of the summer to make travel plans. If these breedings don’t take, we will not attempt breeding again until the end of July.
Our plan is to breed again in late July so we can have babies ready to go home in November/December. If they don’t take, then we will not breed again until early December, so we can focus on family time at the end of the year.
Our goal is to always do what’s best for our family and our cats, while providing you with sweet cuddly playful ragdoll babies of your own!
How to get on our waitlist
Email us! We only open our wait list up for a limited number of babies at a time. Because we breed during limited times, and cannot know how many babies each mama will have, we limit our wait list so you won’t have to wait too long to get your babies at any given time! Sometimes our mamas surprise us with small litters, and sometimes large litters, so we try to guess as best as we can for our wait list!
We love getting to know everyone who reaches out! We’re happy to chat via email, but we also love to connect over the phone, or even a video chat. We always do our best to be transparent and as honest as possible! We don’t have any forms to fill out – we prefer getting to know people individually. The most important thing for us to know is our babies are going to amazing homes. We’ve been fortunate that all our babies have went to homes that spoil them even more than we do! It’s important to let us know what you’re looking for – the more specific you are in what you want, the longer you may need to wait for your purrfect baby to be born.
What’s our deposit policy?
While we do ask for a $250 deposit, we simply use it as a method to ensure you’re serious about getting a CuddleRags baby! Our deposit is 100% fully refundable at any time, for any reason, up until you have selected your kitten. Once you have selected your baby, we no longer offer him/her to others on the wait list, so we would need to start the process over again should you change your mind, which is why we would keep the deposit in that instance. Prior to that, just let us know you need a refund, and we will usually get it sent the same day, but at the latest by the following day. We understand circumstances can change, and would never want you to feel obligated to take a baby home simply because you had already placed a deposit!
Can I place a deposit on a specific litter?
The short answer to this is no. Our wait list is on a first come, first served basis. When you place a deposit, you get to choose a kitten when it’s your turn on the wait list. Once it’s your turn, you have the option to ask for a refund, select a kitten, or wait for a kitten from another litter. Once the next litter is born, you would be in a higher spot in line, so you would be able to select sooner. If you are waiting for a specific color/pattern/gender to be born, this could mean you may need to wait awhile to get your purrfect baby.
